Durham Station Transportation center

$15 M –Durham Transportation Center —is downtown’s future multimodal transportation district and home of local and regional bus and taxi service. It will be adjacent to Amtrak- service and TTA’s light Rail line. The station will be built when the old Heart-of-Durham Hotel is demolished and the site cleaned and cleared. The project is currently in the schematic design phase. This station will be the crowning gem at the heart of a newly created ‘high-density’ zoning. This kind of transportation hub provides multiple alternatives to automobile traffic, an essential component needed to support more densely populated urban areas.
