Keep Durham Beautiful

Community Litter Cleanups - 6 happy smiling college students wearing safety vests and carrying garbage bags full of litter hold their brightly colored litter grabbers like swords, challenging residents to join them in their fight to keep our city streets clean.

Keep Durham Beautiful, Inc. (KDB) is an independent non profit {501 (c)(3)} that works to engage and inspire individuals to take ownership of their environment. KDB focuses on litter abatement, solid waste reduction education and beautification. Operationally supported by Durham City and County, funding for programs comes solely from corporate, civic and individual donors.

Ownership - A sign that proclaims the adoption of a park by a local group stands in front of a well kept flowering garden featuring a stone pedestal and white stones set as borders to the garden they are maintaining.

Housed in the City of Durham General Services Department, KDB supports litter clean-ups across the community, beautification projects and events and education for both community and school children (currently K-3).

Community Litter Cleanups—KDB assists groups who want to organize and carry out local litter cleanups. We supply materials necessary and pick up the bags of litter after the event. Call to register your cleanup.

Ownership—Groups or individuals sign a contract to take responsibility for the appearance of a street, corner, park or other piece of public land. Make a difference in your City!

Education - Kindergarten students gather around a staff member who is teaching them about the value of reducing, reusing, and recycling at a table in a school library.

Education—KEB works to educate and inspire school children and adults alike in all that can be done to improve the appearance and safety of our community!

Call for more information or to register your clean-up or beautification events.
