Watch for Wildlife on Paved Trails

This time of year, as the weather turns cooler and it gets dark earlier, snakes, turtles and other wildlife are likely to come out onto paved trails for the warmth. We have had several recent sightings of copperheads on the American Tobacco Trail at dusk. Killing, taking, or molesting wildlife is prohibited on all trails and greenways, but be alert to your surroundings especially at dawn and dusk when trails are less traveled and wildlife are more active. If you see any wild animal on a trail or greenway, the best course of action is to let it go on its way.
