The Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) regulates land development in Durham and Durham County. The UDO can change to meet current conditions. The way of changing the UDO is the Text Amendment process.
Citizens, staff, the Planning Commission, the Board of County Commissioners and City Council can request a Text Amendment. The process generally takes six months to complete and has a fee associated with it. Requests for Text Amendments are accepted at any time.
