Computer Support

The Computer Support Team provides technical assistance for all microcomputer users. Also included in this functionality is the maintenance and repair of all computer hardware, peripherals and the installation of all standardized and approved software. This division is responsible for the setup of computers, printers and file servers on the city’s local area and wide area network. This division is responsible for the administration of the City of Durham’s internal and external mail servers and the Domain Name Server. This division maintains the PC inventory for the City of Durham.

This division is responsible for supporting all city employees on the standardized software - Microsoft Office 2003, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) Windows XP, electronic mail, Internet, Authorized Positions System, and Financial Accounting Inquiry.

The Computer Support Team is responsible for the backup of data files and the security of all city servers and workstations.

This program consists of the following positions to support all microcomputer users for the City of Durham:

  • 2 Network Analyst
  • 2 LAN Analyst
  • 1 Senior Operator
  • 1 User Support Manager
  • 4 Senior Systems Engineer
