State of Durham's Economy Breakfast Set for March 23

Event Highlights Economic Performance in 2009; Advance Tickets Available Beginning Today

DURHAM, N.C. – Citizens interested in an update on Durham’s economic performance in 2009 and perspectives about how economic recovery may be accelerated in 2010 should mark their calendars now for the 12th State of Durham’s Economy Breakfast, to be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Durham Performing Arts Center, located at 123 Vivian Street in downtown Durham.

The breakfast is the City’s premiere annual event focused upon economic and workforce development.  Issues such as employment, tax-base growth, high-growth industry activity, retail sales, commercial real estate markets, and wages will be discussed.  This year’s event will also feature a panel discussion with representatives from high-growth industries who will share their perspectives about how economic recovery opportunities can be seized locally, as well as how various members of the public and private sectors can benefit. 

The event is sponsored by the City of Durham’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD), in collaboration with the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Durham, Inc., Durham County Government, and the Durham Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Registration opens Wednesday, January 27, 2010.  Advance sale tickets cost $50 each or $375 for a table of eight.  After Monday, March 1, tickets will be $60 each or $450 for a table of eight.
