What:              12th State of Durham’s Economy Breakfast

Fast Facts:
     • Citizens interested in an update on Durham’s economic performance in 2009 and perspectives about how economic recovery may be accelerated in 2010 should mark their calendars now for the 12th State of Durham’s Economy Breakfast.

     • The breakfast is the City’s premiere annual event focused upon economic and workforce development.  Issues such as employment, tax-base growth, high-growth industry activity, retail sales, commercial real estate markets, and wages will be discussed. 

     • New for this year’s event, a panel discussion with representatives from high-growth industries will share their perspectives about how economic recovery opportunities can be seized locally, as well as how various members of the public and private sectors can benefit. 
          o Panelists include Madhu Beriwal, president and chief executive officer with IEM; MaryAnn Black, associate vice president for Community Relations with Duke University Health System; Ryan Allis, chief executive officer with iContact; Dr. Charles M. Becker, associate chairman of the Department of Economics with Duke University; and Antoine Freeman, a graduate of the City’s Brownfields Environmental Technology Job Training Program at Durham Technical Community College. 
          o The panel will be moderated by Larry Stogner, anchor with ABC 11 Eyewitness News.

     • This is the final week advance sale tickets will be offered at $50 each or $375 for a table of eight.  After Monday, March 1, tickets will be $60 each or $450 for a table of eight. Registration closes for this event on Monday, March 15.
