Request a New Bicycle Rack
The City of Durham has a program for placing new bicycle racks, usually only on public property, on sidewalks, or at parks, schools, and other government buildings. You can view the public right-of-way on Durham Maps.
To suggest a location for a new rack, use the online bicycle rack location form. The sidewalk or pavement area must be wide enough to accommodate a rack. Please review the City’s bicycle rack placement guidelines (PDF) prior to making a request. To facilitate rack installation, consider talking to nearby business owners to assess whether the bike rack installation is welcome.
Report a Broken Bicycle Rack
If a bicycle rack installed on the public right-of-way is broken, loose, or has another issue, please report the issue using the form below. You can view the public right-of-way on Durham Maps. Based on the situation, the broken bicycle rack may be fixed, removed, or replaced in a new location.
