Durham Traffic Separation Study (TSS)

The Durham TSS is a comprehensive evaluation of traffic patterns and road usage at public rail/highway crossings in Durham County. The purpose of the study is to assess existing conditions and determine needed improvements to enhance safety. A total of 18 at-grade crossings and 2 grade-separated crossings (railroad bridges over the road) along the North Carolina railroad line are included in this study. Public workshops were held in November and December 2011 and March 2013.

The study project public hearing was held by the City Council on October 21, 2013, with written comments accepted through November 19, 2013. The study report is available below. Public comments and responses are provided in Appendix I.
