Emergency Information Services Unit

Purpose
Emergency Information Services (EIS) is responsible for administration, maintenance, and support of the department’s computer and IP telephone technologies.

Emergency Information Services Responsibilities
Daily Management Services
Duties include daily management and support of:
  • 9-1-1 Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system
  • Police Records Management System (RMS)
  • Servers
  • Local and remotely connected computers,
  • Public safety software
  • Wireless communications
  • Mobile data laptops and
  • Network devices
Support Services
Support of the workstation operating system servers include:
  • Configuration
  • Installation
  • Testing
  • Maintenance
  • Troubleshooting
Other Duties
EIS is also responsible for the extensive support for PC applications and technical support for the Durham Fire Department, Durham County EMS and Durham County fire agencies participating in the mobile dispatch system through established agreements.
