Ramey Kemp and Associates of Raleigh, NC has been employed as the design firm to prepare plans, obtain permits, and hold informational meetings with stakeholders. They began survey and data collection in July 2017. The first community input meeting was held in January of 2018. The second community input meeting was held June 18, 2018. The city hosted the third and final community input meeting on Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM in the Media Center, Room 226 at E.K. Powe located at 913 9th St, Durham, NC 27705 where the community viewed the current design and offered comments. In June 2021 city received NCDOT's permission to move forward with the right-of-way acquisition phase of the project. Currently TELICS (real estate consultant) is in the final stages of acquiring the necessary easements and right-of-way for the project.
