North Miami Boulevard is a road that currently varies between 2, 3, and 4 travel lanes between Geer Street and Raynor Street, with parking allowed in certain sections of the corridor. The posted speed limit is 35 mph. The corridor provides access to the Village Shopping Center for many surrounding neighborhoods. Additionally, Sherwood Park can be accessed via Juniper Street.
The proposed restriping will provide a more consistent cross-section, and allow for bicycle facilities along the entirety of the corridor. It will also help slow traffic speeds. Parking is expected to be retained along most of the corridor.
This bicycle improvement project is funded by a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement (CMAQ) Program Grant through NCDOT.
Cross-sections of the proposed changes are below. The full design (PDF) is also available for viewing. Comments received during the 2018 September public meeting and online comment period will be incorporated where appropriate.
The re-striping work is expected to begin summer 2023 and end fall 2023.
