The Durham Police Department and the Community Resource Unit observe National Crime Prevention Month in October each year by hosting a variety of special events and crime prevention campaigns during the month. Events aim to encourage police and community interaction year-round and support of police department crime prevention efforts.

- Tip-a –Cop (NC Special Olympics FUNdraiser)
- Trunk-or-Treat/ Halloween Safety Outreach

- Presentations by request of community groups.
