The Department of Water Management is beginning a project to replace a segment of 12-inch aerial waterline over New Hope Creek. This line was washed away during flooding events associated with Hurricane Florence. The wash-out left a gap in the City’s water system. To prevent a similar occurrence in the future, the new waterline will be installed underneath the creek bed.
We also have determined that an existing 12-inch sewer force main that runs parallel to the waterline is limited in capacity and needs to be larger. The replacement will be included in this project, as well. The location of the improvements can be viewed on the project area map.
The City has contracted with Highfill Infrastructure Engineering to perform the design work.
