The Durham Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission (BPAC) is a citizens group whose purpose it is to advise Durham’s City Council and Board of County Commissioners on bicycle and pedestrian issues.

Board of Adjustment (BOA)
The Board of Adjustment (BOA) holds quasi-judicial public hearings to determine requests made by property owners in the City and County of Durham for minor and custodial care special use permits, variances, and appeals of administrative interpretations or decisions, as authorized by state law and local ordinance.

Environmental Affairs Board (EAB)
The City of Durham and Durham County jointly established the Environmental Affairs Board (EAB) in 1991, in recognition of the importance of local cooperation on environmental issues. The EAB is an advisory board of appointed residents to provide the city and county with expert and comprehensive advice on various environmental matters. It also facilitates communication between the public and local government leaders.

Firefighter's Relief Fund Board of Trustees
The board is responsible for the control and disbursement of funds to firemen injured and disabled in the line of duty.

Historic Preservation Commission (HPC)
The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) holds quasi-judicial hearings to determine whether requested changes to the exterior of historic district or landmark properties are appropriate by state law, local ordinance and historic preservation plans for the districts.

Mayor's Hispanic/Latino Committee
MHLC is a non-political committee of 19 members, including 15 representatives of public and private agencies who serve the City’s Hispanic/Latino community in a meaningful or substantial way.

Passenger Vehicle for Hire Commission
The commission conducts hearings concerning denial or revocation of operators licenses and drivers permits, and makes recommendations to the City Council. Resident recommendations and complaints are also be heard by the commission.
