Project Description


*This project has been canceled effective February 4, 2022*.
This is a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) from qualified firms (Engineers) to provide ombudsperson services for sidewalk repair contracts. The selected consultant will be asked to perform the following activities for the project:

Act as an Ombudsperson for the project – The engineer shall provide ombudsperson services as requested by the City to address public matters pertaining to the project such as:
Be present during construction activities to address concerns
Informing business and homeowners of when work will be completed
Addressing complaints made by the public
Being an expert in PROWAG compliant sidewalk 

Act as Inspector for the project – The engineer shall provide inspection services for the City sidewalk projects and address matters pertaining to the project such as:
·        Field inspection of the work.
·        Verify whether work is done under required specifications.
·        Verify the quantities of pay items installed by the Contractor
·        Review daily reports and quantities put into PDRx system by contractor
·        Addressing questions from the contractor
·        Being aware of specifications and standard details for Sidewalk, PROWAG compliant curb ramps and curb and gutter 
·        Being aware of the challenges of doing concrete repair in the City of Durham public right of way


Design (as needed) – The engineer shall provide PROWAG compliant designs to the contractor  for sidewalks and curb ramps as needed. The ramps are to be designed to current ADA and PROWAG standards. The engineer shall also be available during construction to modify or answer questions about the design.

Other Services – The engineer shall provide similar additional services related to various sidewalk repair projects as needed on an hourly basis.
