Employee COVID-19 Vaccines & Boosters

Reporting Requirement

City employees are strongly encouraged to verify their COVID-19 vaccination and booster vaccination via CoVerified (PDF).

Employees who have not reported their status as fully vaccinated (initial series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or initial Johnson & Johnson vaccine) may be subject to an ongoing monthly surcharge (PDF) on their health insurance premium.

Vaccine & Booster Requirement

At this time, the COVID vaccine (including the booster shot) is not mandatory for any City employee.

Incentives


City of Durham employees who verify that they are fully vaccinated (PDF) (initial series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or initial Johnson & Johnson vaccine) and/or verify that they have received their COVID-19 booster shot (PDF) may be eligible for 1) paid time off as part of the City’s new Earned Preventive Care Time (PDF) (formerly Wellness Day) policy and 2) wellness credit (PDF) for the upcoming benefits year.

Employees who have verified their booster status in CoVerified (PDF) will also be entered to win additional prizes like gift cards.

All City employees are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine and booster shot. Please visit the CDC's website for additional guidance around vaccine and booster shot eligibility.

Following COVID-19 Policies & Guidance

Employees should continue following all COVID-related policies and guidance, regardless of their vaccination status.
