Pumpkin Drop Off Options

You can drop off whole or carved, unpainted pumpkins and squash at several locations on November 4! The pumpkins will then be composted by the City's composting contractor.

Drop Off Events

The City and Keep Durham Beautiful are teaming up to collect these spooky season pumpkins from 8 a.m. to noon on November 4 at these City parks:Keep Durham Beautiful volunteer and City of Durham Solid Waste employee taking pumpkins to compost

  • Bethesda Park, 1814 Stage Rd.
  • Campus Hills, 2000 S. Alston Ave. (parking lot)
  • Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, 2115 E. Club Blvd.

Pumpkin Disposal Prep

Please only bring pumpkins and squash that are unpainted. No other decorations, candles, or glitter can be accepted. These pumpkins and squash will be taken directly to the composting facility for processing. Thank you for your cooperation.

OTHER DISPOSAL OPTIONS

If you miss the November 4 event, residents can continue to drop their pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns at no charge at the Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, 2115 E. Club Blvd., from November 4 - November 18 during normal hours of operation.
