Project Location

Project Description

  • Improvements to the field including regrading for better drainage, the addition of soil amendments, the installation of sod on the 310-foot by 170-foot athletic/multi-use field, and the installation of an irrigation system
  • New site amenities in the park will include a paved sidewalk into the park from Foster Street, a new drinking fountain, new trash receptacles, and new trees at the periphery of the field to replace existing trees that will be removed during construction
  • Installation of new and replacement storm drainage pipes and structures within the park and along Foster Street between the Central Park School for Children and the intersection of Foster and West Geer streets

These improvements are in accordance with the City Council's Resolution Establishing the Renovations and Uses of Old North Durham Park (PDF), dated January 17, 2012.

Project Status

The construction project is complete and Old North Durham Park was opened on November 12. Thank you for your patience while the park was closed during construction.
