Rain Catchers was a grant-funded project to install small, residential stormwater control measures in a subwatershed of Ellerbe Creek. In 2013, the City of Durham, with funding from Clean Water Management Trust Fund, installed 41 rain gardens, 108 cisterns, 38 trees, and 66 street trees. Ninety-four homeowners participated, agreeing to host and maintain rain catcher devices.
