Durham police investigators are asking for assistance in identifying a man who is suspected of breaking into two occupied residences on South LaSalle Street and Ratcale Lane in the past week.
The suspect was described as a black male in his mid-twenties wearing gloves and a mask. He apologized to the victims and told them he would not harm them. The suspect was armed with a knife and took cash and cell phones from the victims, but he left the phones outside so they could retrieve them later. The suspect entered the two residences through open or unlocked windows and the burglaries happened between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
The suspect fled from both residences on foot and investigators believe he may live in the area.
The victims were not injured.
