Durham Police Investigate Crash on Interstate 40
Durham police are investigating a wrong way collision on Interstate 40 that left one man with serious injuries. The crash happened shortly before 1 a.m. today on Interstate 40 West near Interstate 540.
A white Toyota RAV4 driven by Qianyu Hang, 25, of Raleigh was going east in the westbound lanes when the vehicle collided with a westbound FedEx 2018 Volvo 18-wheeler driven by Tyrone Hines, 68, of Pinetops. Hines saw the wrong way driver coming toward him and took evasive action by swerving to the right, which caused the impact to be on the left side of the 18-wheeler’s tractor, according to investigators.
