American Tobacco District Waterline Replacement Project Update

January 8, 2018

The City of Durham Department of Water Management is preparing to begin subsurface investigations on Monday, January 15, as part of our American Tobacco District Waterline Replacement Project. Geotechnical borings and test holes help identify existing underground utilities and determine soil properties ahead of construction work. Investigations will take place in various locations between Peabody and the Durham Freeway from Buchanan to Julian Carr, and between Kent and Shepherd along Chapel Hill. A project area map is attached.

Disruption of existing utilities is not anticipated during subsurface investigation activities. Impacts will be limited to construction-related noise and minor traffic control near boring locations. Door hanger notices are being placed at residences and businesses in the project area today. Additional information regarding this project can be found at: http://durhamnc.gov/2780/American-Tobacco-District-Waterline-Replacement.
