DURHAM, N.C. – The Durham Police Department has extended the deadline to accept applications for its 2018 Summer Camp. Open to youth ages 9 to 13, the camp features daily field trips, and a variety of recreational, educational and social activities that create positive and fun interactions among police officers and campers. Hosted by school resource officers of the department’s Community Services Division, the program aims to add structured youth activities to the summer months and to strengthen law enforcement's relationship with participating youth and their families. Camp registrations will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants can choose from three week-long sessions: Camp 1: June 18 to June 22; Camp 2: July 23 to July 27; or Camp 3: August 13 to August 17. Applications for 2018 summer camps are online at www.durhampolice.com (Click Community Resources, then Online Forms) and at the front desk of Police Headquarters (505 W. Chapel Hill Street). DPD school resource officers also have forms at school. Completed applications must be returned by Friday, May 18, 2018 to the on-duty desk officer located on the first floor of Police Headquarters. |
