Durham police investigators have made four additional arrests in the April 2018 fatal shooting of Hong Zheng on Carlton Crossing Drive, bringing the total number of arrests to five in this case. On April 15, shortly after 10 p.m., Zheng and his wife had just returned to their home in the 4600 block of Carlton Crossing Drive when Zheng was attacked and ultimately shot to death in his driveway.
On April 27, Durham police officers arrested Maurice Owen Wiley Jr., 28, in the 600 block of East Ellerbee Street.
On May 18, officers arrested Hykeem Deshun Cox, 21, of Durham, and on May 22, officers arrested Darryl Bradford, 18, Semaj Maleek Bradley, 18, and Charles Winfor Daniels, 18, all of Durham. Wiley, Bradford, Bradley, Daniels and Cox were all charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted first-degree burglary and seven counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling/moving vehicle.
Wiley is also charged with six counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle/residence causing serious bodily injury. In addition, Wiley was arrested on five charges (assault on a female, communicating threats, assault by pointing a gun, assault in the presence of a minor and misdemeanor larceny) from a domestic violence case in Durham last year and an assault by strangulation charge in connection with a domestic violence case in Wake County in March of 2018. He was also charged with two drug offenses. All five men have been placed in Durham County Jail without bond.
