Pedestrian Critically Injured in Crash on N. Duke Street
DURHAM, N.C. - A pedestrian was critically injured late Monday when he was struck by a car on North Duke Street near Horton Road. The pedestrian, Bass Junior Pass, 68, of Durham, was crossing North Duke Street around 10:45 p.m. when he was struck by a northbound 2005 Honda Accord driven by Melorie Wendt, 37, of Durham. According to investigators, Pass was crossing the road approximately 70 feet north of a marked crosswalk when the collision occurred. Pass was taken to the hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Speed, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, according to investigators. No charges have been filed and the accident remains under investigation.
