DURHAM, N.C. - On August 8, Durham police officers were involved in a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred in the New Hope Commons shopping center, in the 5400 block of New Hope Commons Drive.
“We would like to express our concern and condolences to everyone involved. Any loss of life is always a tragic event,” said Police Chief C.J. Davis.
According to a preliminary investigation, officers received information from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office that an armed suicidal man was driving a red pick-up truck in the vicinity of the New Hope Commons shopping center.
