Durham Police Department officers are investigating a pedestrian-involved hit-and-run crash that occurred shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday night. A 39-year-old woman was struck in the area of 109 N.C. Highway 54 West in front of the Circle K gas station by an unknown SUV that fled the scene.
The victim, who was attempting to cross the roadway, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Parts recovered from the scene, combined with witness statements, indicate that the suspect vehicle is a 2017 or newer red Honda CRV. The vehicle will have sustained damage to the front grill. A diagram of parts that were collected at the scene is attached. Parts No. 4,5, 9 and 13 were recovered and should be missing from the suspect vehicle.
Speed nor alcohol or drugs appear to be factors at this time.
