Deadline Extended to May 31 for Durham Police Summer Camp
Space Still Available in July and August Sessions
DURHAM, N.C. – The Durham Police Department’s (DPD) June summer camp session is full to capacity. However spaces are still available in the department’s July and August summer camp sessions. Camps 2 and 3 will run July 15-19 and August 12-16 respectively, Eligible participants are youth ages 9 to 13. Campers will take daily field trips, and engage in recreational, educational and social activities with police officers and other campers.
Hosted by school resource officers of the department’s Community Services Division, the camps aim to add structured youth activities to the summer months and to strengthen law enforcement's relationship with participating youth and their families.
The new, extended deadline is Friday, May 31 for camps 2 or camp 3 only. Applications are online at www.durhampolice.com (click ‘Online Forms’); at the front desk of the new Durham Police Headquarters (602 E. Main Street); and at various elementary and charter schools. Completed applications must be returned to the on-duty desk officer located on the first floor of the new Durham Police Headquarters by May 31.
