Residents Asked to Note Changes in City-Provided Services & Programs
DURHAM, N.C. – Most City of Durham offices, including City Hall and other non-emergency City operations, will be closed Monday, May 27 in observance of Memorial Day. Police, fire, and rescue services for life-threatening or in-progress emergencies may be reached by calling 911. Non-emergency concerns may be directed to (919) 560-4600. Residents are asked to take note of the following changes in other City services and programs.
Solid Waste, Recycling, Yard Waste, and Bulky Services Curbside Collections
The Solid Waste Management Department will be closed on May 27. The revised collection schedule for all curbside services reflects a one-day delay in garbage, recycling, yard waste, and bulky services collections for all customers as follows:
- Monday customers will receive collections on Tuesday, May 28.
- Tuesday customers will receive collections on Wednesday, May 29.
- Wednesday customers will receive collections on Thursday, May 30.
- Thursday customers will receive collections on Friday, May 31.
- Friday customers (yard waste and bulky items only) will receive collections on Monday, June 3.
The Waste Disposal & Recycling Center, Yard Waste Facility, and the Household Hazardous Waste Center will also be closed on May 27. Durham Parks and Recreation
Durham Parks and Recreation will close its administrative office, all recreation centers, and all indoor rental sites on May 27. All recreation centers and indoor rental sites will operate under normal schedules May 25–26. City lakes and picnic shelters will be open as scheduled May 24–27. Water Management
Normal operating hours for the Water Management Department’s Water and Sewer Maintenance Division are from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Water main break and sewer overflow calls for service placed after-hours, weekends, or on City-recognized holidays should be directed to the department’s after-hours emergency phone number at (919) 560-4344, which will dispatch on-call crews. Durham One Call
Durham One Call will be closed on May 27. Residents may submit a service request using the free smartphone app available in the Apple and Google Play stores, complete and submit an online service request, or leave a message at (919) 560-1200. Durham One Call will forward all requests for City services to the appropriate department on the next business day.
GoDurham and GoDurham ACCESS
GoDurham and GoDurham ACCESS will operate under its Sunday-level service schedules on May 27, but administrative offices will be closed.
