The City Clerk's Office Presents the Monthly Board Member Spotlight:
Susan Goodman, Participatory Budgeting Steering Committee
Why would you encourage someone in the community to apply to be on a board, committee, or commission?
It's a great way to meet committed and engaged people who are concerned about the city and also learn about the issues.
What do you enjoy most about serving on your particular board?
I think I had a chance to participate in making a practical difference. The participatory budgeting projects are good. I am particularly pleased by the grant to Habitat for Humanity to build ramps, playground outfitted with equipment for handicapped children and additional bus shelters.
What is your favorite part about living in Durham?
I like the welcoming attitude towards many different types of people; for example, walkers, bikers, scooter, bus and car riders are all accepted.
