Durham police are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that happened late Friday on Old Oxford Road near Craven Street.
The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Old Oxford Road. According to investigators, a 2007 Nissan Altima driven by Michael Carrigan, 47, of Durham was going north on Old Oxford Road and crossed the dotted yellow line to pass an SUV in front of his vehicle. After traveling into the southbound lane, the Nissan struck 24-year-old Dejan Foster who was rollerblading in the southbound lanes of Old Oxford Road.
Foster was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators charged Carrigan with speeding and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
