Durham Police Investigating Shooting
Durham police are investigating a shooting that happened early this morning at Duke Manor Apartments at 311 South LaSalle Street.
The shooting happened shortly after 4 a.m. during an argument when a tow truck driver attempted to tow a vehicle, according to investigators.
Investigators said the argument started after the tow truck driver – 24-year-old Brandon Ayscue – attempted to tow the vehicle while the driver was in the vehicle. During the argument, the driver was shot in the chest. A struggle ensued and the driver was also slashed. A female who tried to intervene to help the driver was cut on her hand.
The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Ayscue, who works for Unlimited Recovery, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, assault with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and second-degree kidnapping.
