Durham Man Arrested on Robbery and Larceny Charges
Durham police arrested a man today and charged him with several counts of robbery and larceny in connection with thefts of money from four commercial businesses on November 16.
Investigators charged Mitchell Lawrence Smith, 30, with committing the following incidents on November 16:
- 1:35 a.m. at Cookout at 4245 North Roxboro Street. A male reached through the walk-up window and stole cash. Smith was charged with one count of larceny.
- 3:12 a.m. at Cookout at 3624 Hillsborough Road. A man pulled a gun and demanded money. Smith was charged with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
- 5:07 a.m. at Hardee’s at 3912 North Duke Street. A man ordered coffee and took cash from a register. He implied he had a gun. Smith was charged with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
- 6:45 a.m. at Coffee World at 3799 Guess Road. A man entered the business, ordered coffee and then grabbed cash from the register. Smith was charged with one count of larceny.
The warrants were served on Smith at the Durham County Jail, where he was in custody in connection with a November 20 common-law robbery and vandalism at Walgreens at 710 Fayetteville Street.
