The City Clerk's Office Presents the Monthly Board Member Spotlight:
Chi Vo, Durham Environmental Affairs Board
Why would you encourage someone in the community to apply to be on a board, committee, or commission?
Joining a board, committee, or commission can bridge connections, opportunities, and resources to other residents of Durham. Our city is abundant in many gifts, and our people are of diverse backgrounds and experiences. To me, that means that we all have something to contribute to our great city. Joining a board, committee, or commission is a great platform to influence decisions and planning around Durham. From how women are treated in our workforce to cleaner waterways, there’s a place for everyone.
What do you enjoy most about serving on your particular board?
I have been inspired by the stories of many residents who share their love of this community. Through the work on the Environmental Affairs Board, I’ve been energized by the resilience and brilliance of those around me. A city is as great as its people, and we have so many passionate residents that tell us about their goals, challenges, and ways that we can support them. I feel at home on this board as I get to listen to people and learn from them, then we have the opportunity to move forward with decisions that can make a difference in our community. We also have fun together and laugh together.
What is your favorite part about living in Durham?
I love how uniquely Durham we are. Durham pride is real, y’all.
