Sarah Mye, Participatory Budgeting Steering Committee

Why would you encourage someone in the community to apply to be on a board, committee, or commission? 

Serving
on the Participatory Budgeting Steering Committee has been a greatopportunity to meet Durham residents who are passionate about this
community! It’s also allowed me to engage with city staff and electedofficials; I definitely have a better understanding of the role Durham city
government plays in everyday life. 

What do you enjoy most about serving on your particular board?

I’vemost enjoyed seeing Durham’s participatory budgeting come to fruition. We set a
goal to engage 10,000 voters across the city, and we achieved that in our firstimplementation! 

What  is your favorite part about living in Durham?

Durham has the BEST local restaurants. Saltbox,
Pompieri Pizza, Namu, the Parlour, and Dame’s are some of my favorites!
