Durham Man Arrested on Robbery Charge
A Durham man was arrested on a robbery charge after he allegedly tried to steal several items and then pulled a knife on a loss prevention officer at a local business.
Officers were dispatched to a robbery call at Home Depot at 3701 Mount Moriah Road around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. When they arrived, they were told that a man had put four power drills in a shopping cart and tried to leave the store without paying for the tools.
When a loss prevention officer approached the man about the items, the two men struggled, causing the shopping cart to flip over. During the struggle, the man allegedly pulled a knife on the loss prevention officer and shoved it toward him several times. The loss prevention officer was not injured.
The man – Tysean Urain Lunceford, 47, of Durham – was arrested after a brief foot chase. He was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and placed in Durham County Jail under a $250,000 bond.
