Durham Police Asking for Information on Carjacking/Kidnapping
Durham police investigators are asking for information about a carjacking and kidnapping that happened Sunday night on Hillandale Road. A 9-year-old child was in the stolen vehicle, but he was located unharmed.
Officers were dispatched to the carjacking call shortly before 9:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of Hillandale Road. The victim told officers she had stopped at that location to pick up something and left the car running with her son inside in the back seat.
Two males got in the car and fled with the child inside the vehicle. A Durham County Sheriff’s deputy found the stolen car and the child a short time later on Alabama Avenue. A witness told officers that two men had run from the stolen vehicle and left in a dark-colored, 4-door car.
The victim told officers that her passport, wallet and cash were stolen from the vehicle.
