Durham Police Asking for Information on South Alston Avenue Homicide
Durham police investigators are asking for information about the May 10 fatal shooting of 31-year-old Jose Ivan Garcia Rodriguez on South Alston Avenue.
Officers were dispatched to a shooting call shortly before 10 p.m. on May 10 in the 1900 block of South Alston Avenue. When they arrived, they found Garcia Rodriguez who had been shot. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.
It appears that Garcia Rodriguez was shot during an attempted armed robbery of a vehicle, according to investigators. Garcia Rodriguez attempted to stop the suspect, but the suspect shot him, based on a preliminary investigation. The suspect was last seen running south on South Alston Avenue.
The suspect was described as a black male between 18 and 20 years old. He was approximately six feet tall, slim and had a medium brown complexion.
