The Best-Tasting Water in North Carolina
A $100 million update for Durham’s two aging water treatment plants; millions of gallons of water saved by helping customers diagnose leaky plumbing; and statewide honors for the best-tasting water in North Carolina for the second year in a row. Those are among the highlights in the Department of Water Management’s 2019 Water Quality Report, required annually by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Available in English and Spanish, the report is online at https://durhamnc.gov/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/4856. Customers may request a printed copy by emailing [email protected] or calling (919)560-4381.
The City routinely monitors more than 150 contaminants and is pleased to announce 100% compliance with all drinking water standards. The report also outlines the journey water takes from source to tap, and shows how professionals produce water that is healthy, fresh, and pure. As Water Management Director Don Greeley says, “The daily operations of a municipal water system make for a busy and productive year.”
