A CrimeStoppers reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in connection with an August 11 two-alarm arson fire that caused extensive damage to a multi-family residential structure under construction at 512 Gordon Street. There were no injuries.
The fire was reported at 11:50 p.m. on August 11 and flames were visible when firefighters arrived on the scene. The fire was under control within 30 minutes.
A two-day follow-up investigation indicated that the fire was intentionally set.
A task force comprised of the Durham Fire Marshal’s Office, the Durham Police Department, the North Carolina Office of the State Fire Marshal, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is handling the investigation.
Investigators are asking for information about any suspicious activity seen in the area between 9 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. on August 11. The building is located behind 505 West Chapel Hill Street.
