Durham police investigators have charged a 17-year-old Durham teen with shooting three people on Dawkins Street in August.
Officers were dispatched to a shooting call shortly before 5:30 p.m. on August 31. When they arrived, they found two men and one woman who had been shot. They were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
The victims told officers they were in a vehicle near the intersection of Umstead and Dawkins streets when a male approached the vehicle, fired several shots and ran away.
Investigators took out juvenile petitions charging the 17-year-old with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, shooting into an occupied vehicle, being a minor in possession of a firearm and discharging a firearm within the city limits. The 17-year-old was arrested Friday in the 2500 block of South Roxboro Street and was placed in a secure juvenile facility.
