Durham police are investigating a hit-and-run crash involving life-threatening injuries that happened Saturday night on Angier Avenue at Pleasant Drive.
The crash happened shortly after 8 p.m. when a 2019 BMW F750 motorcycle operated by Juan Lopez of Morrisville collided with the right front bumper and quarter panel of a 2019 Honda Accord. The driver of the Honda Accord was attempting to make a left turn onto Pleasant Drive when the collision occurred.
Lopez was transported to the hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
After the crash, the driver of the Honda Accord stopped briefly before fleeing the scene eastbound on Angier Avenue. Witnesses described the driver as a black male approximately 30 years old.
The Honda Accord has a Virginia registration plate number USU4244 and should have a license plate cover that spells Brown with the letter ‘O’ replaced with a heart. The vehicle will likely be missing a front right fog light cover.

Preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the Honda Accord failed to yield right of way. The crash remains under investigation.
