American Tobacco District Waterline Replacement – Phase 1 Project Update and Two-Week Look Ahead

 Planned Road / Lane Closures will occur as follows:

• Week of 12/21: 
  • Northbound lane closure of Willard Street between Julian Carr Street and Jackson Street. 
  • Westbound lane closure of Yancey Street between Willard Street and Duke Street. 
  • Westbound lane closure of Jackson Street between Willard Street and Duke Street. 
• Week of 12/28: 
  • Northbound lane closure of Willard Street between Julian Carr Street and Jackson Street.  
  • Westbound lane closure of Yancey Street between Willard Street and Duke Street. 
  • Westbound lane closure of Jackson Street between Willard Street and Duke Street. 

 Week of December 21, 2020:

• Willard Street between Julian Carr Street and Jackson Street will have a northbound lane closure to accommodate waterline installation.
  • Traffic control signs and markings will be used for the Willard Street northbound detour. 
  • Lane shifts with flaggers will be utilized for traffic control while work is taking place in intersections and at waterline connection locations.
  • Sidewalk traffic will be disrupted.
  • Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
  • Planned work hours are 7 AM to 7 PM.
  • Water service reconnections will be coordinated at least 7 days in advance of planned work.
• Yancey Street between Willard Street and Duke Street will have a westbound lane closure to accommodate waterline installation.  
  • Traffic control signs and markings will be used for the Yancey Street westbound detour. 
  • Lane shifts with flaggers will be utilized for traffic control while work is taking place in intersections and at waterline connection locations.
  • Sidewalk traffic will be disrupted.
  • Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
  • Planned work hours are 7 AM to 7 PM.
  • No water or sewer service disruptions are anticipated.
• Jackson Street between Willard Street and Duke Street will have a westbound lane closure to accommodate waterline installation.  
  • Note: Westbound Jackson St and Westbound Yancey St will not be closed at the same time.
  • Traffic control signs and markings will be used for the Jackson Street westbound detour. 
  • Lane shifts with flaggers will be utilized for traffic control while work is taking place in intersections and at waterline connection locations.

 Thursday – Sunday December 24-27, 2020:

• No work will take place on Thursday through Sunday.

 Week of December 28, 2020:

• Willard Street between Julian Carr Street and Jackson Street will have a northbound lane closure to accommodate waterline installation.
