Durham police are investigating a double homicide that happened Thursday night (June 17) on Holloway Street near Briggs Avenue. Two other people suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Officers responded to the shooting call at 9:39 p.m. and found two males who had suffered gunshot wounds lying outside a convenience store. One male was pronounced dead at the scene and the second male was taken to the hospital, where he died a short time later.
A female was taken to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to her leg and a male was treated for a gunshot wound to his foot.
Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shootings, but the incident does not appear to have been random and it appears the involved parties were known to each other, according to a preliminary investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
