Beginning Thursday, July 22, Durham City Council regular business meetings and work sessions will be held in person at City Hall as well as continue to be available virtually through Zoom.

The Council’s regular business meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the first and third Monday of the month in the first floor Council Chambers. Work sessions are held at 1 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of the month following the regular business meetings. Once held in City Hall’s second floor Committee Room, work sessions will now be held in the Council Chambers to allow for greater physical distancing. The first work session of fiscal year 2021-2022 will be held on Thursday, July 22.

News media are asked to continue remotely watching regular business meetings and work sessions to allow for maximum in-person attendance by community members inside Council Chambers.

In-Person Safety Guidelines

  • Until further notice, capacity will be limited to 50 people inside the Council Chambers to help ensure social distancing.
  • Residents are also encouraged to continue to participate virtually, especially if they are unvaccinated.
  • While the City will no longer require face coverings for fully vaccinated individuals inside all City facilities, unvaccinated individuals are required to wear face coverings when indoors for their protection and the protection of others. No employee or resident will be required to show proof of vaccination.
  • Signs will be placed at the entrance to City facilities and disposable face coverings will be available at entrances as well as hand sanitizer.
