[ARCHIVED] Weather Impact on Solid Waste Operations

Due to the uncertainty regarding road conditions Friday morning, Solid Waste will be making a Friday morning decision about a delayed start until staff have been able to inspect roads.  Due to the holiday on Monday the 17th, this will affect Thursday garbage and recycling customers. At this time, it is necessary to suspend yard waste and Exempt service for Friday in order to be able to focus on garbage and recycling collections, if we are able to run.

If you are a Thursday or a Friday yard waste customer, unfortunately we will not be able to collect your yard waste until your next regularly scheduled yard waste collection day (January 27th for Thursday customers and January 28th for Friday customers). We apologize for the inconvenience and beg your patience while we catch back up.

We know at this time that the landfill in Sampson County will be closing Friday at 3:00 pm and will not reopen until Monday morning. For that reason, the Waste Disposal and Recycling Center will delay opening Friday morning until  9:00 am and will close at 12:00 pm and will not reopen until Monday at 7:00 am.
