Public Notice

The Durham Emergency Communications Center is scheduled for a virtual based on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve reaccreditation by verifying it meets professional standards.

Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedure, administration, operations, and support services.

Agency employees and the public are invited to offer comments by calling 919-237-4288 on Monday, February 14, 2022 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Comments will be taken by the Assessment Team.

Telephone comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Durham Emergency Communications Center, 602 E. Main Street, Durham, NC. Local contact is Accreditation Manager Alicia Hawkins (919-237-4167).

Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the Durham Emergency Communication Center’s ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may send them to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320, Gainesville, VA, 20155-2215 or
