The City Clerk’s Office Presents the Monthly Board Member Spotlight:
Christina crosby, human relations commission
1. Why would you encourage someone in the community to apply to be on a board, committee, or commission?
It is an opportunity for the “average” citizen to serve our community and to ensure the commissions/committees have a true sample of Durham’s complete population represented..
2. What do you enjoy most about serving on your particular board?
Meeting people from all walks of life willing to take their time to serve their community. Researching issues and identifying potential changes that can repair problems throughout our community. For example, the condition of Durham’s public housing is unacceptable. Through extensive research and data collection, interviews with past leaders, and best practice investigation we have outlined the flaws in the current accountability structure within our county. We have yet to identify the correction, but we have at least shed light on the design flaw.
3. What is your favorite part about living in Durham?
The rich history and feel of small time life in a large robust town. We have a great health system/University here and do great things for people all over the world.
