American Tobacco District Waterline Replacement – Phase 1 Project Update and Two-Week Look Ahead

Planned Road / Lane Closures will occur as follows:
- Week of 4/4:
- Lane closures and shifts in Peabody Street between Main Street and Duke Street.
- Lane closures and shifts in Chapel Hill Street between NC-147 and Gregson Street.
- Lane closures in Jackson Street between Gregson Street and William Vickers Ave, and William Vickers Ave between Jackson Street and Chapel Hill Street.
- Week of 4/11:
- Lane closures and shifts in Peabody Street between Main Street and Duke Street.
- Lane closures and shifts in Chapel Hill Street between NC-147 and Gregson Street.
- Lane closures in Jackson Street between Gregson Street and William Vickers Ave, and William Vickers Ave between Jackson Street and Chapel Hill Street.
Bicycle Lane and Sidewalk impacts will occur as follows:
- Portions of the sidewalk and bicycle lane on the south side of Chapel Hill Street between Shepherd Street and Gregson Street will have temporary closures to accommodate waterline installation.
Saturday – Sunday April 2-3, 2022:
- No work is planned on Saturday or Sunday.
Week of Aril 4, 2022:
- Peabody Street between Main Street and Duke Street will have local road and lane closures to accommodate waterline installation.
- Traffic control signs and markings will be used for the road and lane closures, including at the Gregson / Peabody and Duke / Peabody intersections.
- Lane shifts with flaggers will be utilized for traffic control while work is taking place in intersections and at waterline connection locations.
- Peabody Street between Main Street and Gregson Street will have isolated closures with local access being maintained.
- Pavement along Peabody Street will be rough and uneven as final pavement repairs are being completed.
- Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
- Planned work hours are 7 AM to 7 PM.
- No water or sewer service disruptions are anticipated.
- Chapel Hill Street between NC-147 and Duke Street will have lane closures and shifts to accommodate waterline installation and pavement restoration.
- Traffic control signs and markings will be used for the lane closures and shifts, including at the Chapel Hill / William Vickers and Chapel Hill / Gregson intersections.
- On-street parking on the south side of Chapel Hill Street will be temporarily closed in active work areas.
- Pavement along Chapel Hill Street will be rough and uneven as final pavement repairs are being completed.
- Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
- Planned work hours are 7 AM to 7 PM.
- Planned water service interruptions will be coordinated at least 7 days in advance.
- Jackson Street between Gregson Street and William Vickers Ave, and William Vickers Ave between Jackson Street and Chapel Hill Street will have lane closures and traffic shifts to accommodate waterline installation, pavement restoration, and sanitary sewer rehabilitation.
- Traffic control signs and markings will be used for the lane closures and shifts. Northbound traffic on William Vickers Ave will be maintained.
- Lane shifts with flaggers will be utilized for traffic control while work is taking place in intersections and at waterline connection locations.
- Pavement along Jackson St and William Vickers Ave will be rough and uneven as final pavement repairs are being completed.
- Sanitary sewer rehabilitation and lining will take place. The rehabilitation schedule will be coordinated with customers in vicinity of the sewer being rehabilitated.
- Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
- Planned work hours are 7 AM to 7 PM.
- Planned water service interruptions will be coordinated at least 7 days in advance.

- No work is planned on Saturday or Sunday.
Week of April 11, 2022:
- Peabody Street between Main Street and Duke Street will have local road and lane closures to accommodate waterline installation.
